My Story
Stephen lost both his parents to HIV/AIDS before he was old enough to remember them. He lives with a brother and sister in his grandmother’s grass-thatched hut in the Nangwe slums of Busia. His mother sells locally produced beer and earns less then $1/day. Stephen is often awoken at night by drunk locals who purchase his mother’s alcohol into the early morning hours.
Stephen is in Kindergarten and is cared for by his mother with the help of New Hope.
