Meet Peter

My Story

Peter’s father died in a car accident before Peter was old enough to recognize him.  His mother, who suffers from ulcers, sells potatoes in a local market to earn a small living.

Before coming to New Hope, Peter had not been attending school for three consecutive years.  During that time he sold eggs to passerby on the streets, helped his mother sell potatoes in the market and tended to his mother during the many times she fell sick. Peter lives in a grass-thatched hut in the Mawelo slums of Busia where he usually eats twice a day.

Peter dreams of becoming a doctor so that he can “treat sick people and support the education of his brother and sister.”

Peter receives a small amount of support from New Hope in the form of school fees, food, clothing and healthcare.  With your help we can provide Peter with all his nutritional, medical and educational needs and greatly improve his quality of life.
