My Story
Herbert’s mother died of AIDS in 2001 and his father is currently suffering from AIDS as well. Herbert’s father earns less than 50 cents a day from fetching water for neighbors and local merchants.
Herbert lives with his father in a small, grass-thatched hut in the Nangwe slums of Busia. Before New Hope began sponsoring Herbert, he rarely attended school because his father needed help fetching water all day.
Herbert hopes to grow up and serve as a policeman in Busia.
Although Herbert receives a small amount of support from New Hope, we currently lack the funds to provide for all of Herbert’s basic needs.
